    3x3 buckshot, hard to find in 20ga. I keep them in my 20ga 870, my 79yr old Mom keeps them in her Ithaca.

    I generally only get Hornady or Federal buck shot. However, they were unavailable, so I decided to give Rio a try due to their availability and price. I was pleasantly surprised. They functioned flawlessly in my Shockwave. I would not hesitate to buy again.

    Quality 20 Gauge ammo from Rio. Great for close range. Like within 15 yards. After that, like any larger buckshot, your chances of hitting your target are not good. Patterns are decent.

    Despite the somewhat confusing item description (hopefully fixed by now), this is the Rio 20 gauge 2 3/4 inch #1 buckshot ammunition, with 9 pellets of #1 buckshot per shell. How does Rio get 9 pellets of #1buckshot in a 20 gauge hull? They cheat. They use a 0.29" pellet instead of an actual 0.30" #1 buckshot. That lets them squeeze in larger pellets than the normal #3 buckshot traditionally used in 20 gauge shells. What does that mean to you? Basically nothing. It still performs like #1 buckshot. And offers more effective penetration than any other 20 gauge buckshot load offered commercially. The recoil on these is between light to moderate compared to 12 gauge buckshot loads. The patterns are generally tight and consistent. If you are looking for a reliable 20 gauge hunting or self defense load, I highly recommend these. Especially for new or smaller shooters.
