This is a top performer, both in terms of kinetic energy (well-over 500 ft-lbs) and expansion and penetration in FBI-protocol clothed gelatin block tests. It is manageable in a full-sized semi-auto; I used my Sig P250. It is my preferred carry load, and I have shot tens of thousands of hard-ball rounds of .45 Auto in practice and competition. Be sure to practice, and you'll be fine. You really need to know if you are comfortable with the added recoil; this is no time to tough it out Or make this a silly guy thing. There is a non-+P version available as well. I think that might be more appropriate for lighter handguns or for extended use. I will try this +P vesion in my .45 ACP S&W Shield, but I'll bet I will go for a non- +P load to reduced strain on the gun, strain on the shooter (!), and to ensure quicker follow up shots in that lighter handgun. Physics will be physics. But hey, if you use a full-sized .45 ACP, this might be the load for you. Win High Kinetic Energy loads reach a similar level of performance without resorting to +P pressures in a 185 grain loading but the bullet seems to fragment during penetration -perhaps a plus indoors or for ccw? Issues with feeding? None. Accuracy? More than needed for a self-defense round, even for a tough head shot in a hostage situation (if you have the skill). Price? Just great! Buy it, try it. You'll like it, I am sure. I have been a trained and licensed private detective and been security officer for a top outfit. I've also been a certified ccw and pistol instructor for decades. Luck has let me chronograph and gel test some of the cartridges I have carried. When it comes down to a tight situation, you'll never regret spending a few $$ more for ammuntion and a handgun you feel you can rely on, like a good partner. This is just such an ammo. The following is my review of another GS product but my comments are the same for all of the GS ammo. "The GS has been reliable and fairly accurate. I'm not convinced that it is as accurate as some of the Federal and Speer rounds. One of the issues I have with GS is there is a small ring around the primer ( I assume it is there to create a seal). When I clean my pistols after firing GS I find a ring or two in my gun. It hasn't caused a problem so far but I wonder if it could and that might be a huge problem in a SHTF moment. It is one less thing to be concerned about when using the Federal and Speer products."
