This bullet’s hollow nose cavity acts to create terminal expansion, providing maximum energy transferral, a cavernous wound cavity, and a lesser chance of dangerous overpenetration. Its bonded jacket and core help at this phase as well, preventing the kind of fragmentation that could make its wound channel shallower.
At 147 grains, this is the heaviest bullet you can usually find in a 9mm factory load. As the result it builds up superior momentum to produce an even deeper wound channel.
