History and Development

Federal Ammunition traces its roots back to the early 1920s and has since become one of the most recognized names in the industry for manufacturing high-quality, American-made ammunition. Over the decades, Federal has continually refined its production processes to enhance consistency, accuracy, and reliability across various lines of ammo—from hunting and self-defense to law enforcement and, of course, training.

The 9mm Luger category remains a cornerstone of Federal’s product offerings, largely due to the caliber’s widespread use and effectiveness. By combining decades of manufacturing expertise with modern quality-control measures, Federal has developed this Training 9mm Luger 115 Grain FMJ option to specifically meet the demands of today’s high-volume shooters who want dependable range ammo without breaking the bank.

Common Questions and FAQs

• Is this ammunition suitable for both indoor and outdoor ranges?
Yes. Most indoor and outdoor facilities allow non-corrosive, brass-cased FMJ rounds for practice. Always check your range’s specific rules and regulations before use.
• Can these rounds be used in compact or subcompact 9mm handguns?
Absolutely. The standardized 115-grain FMJ load is compatible with virtually all 9mm Luger firearms, though it’s best to consult your firearm’s manual for any caliber-specific recommendations.
• Is this ammo reloadable?
Yes. Each round is built with high-quality, boxer-primed brass casings, making them suitable for those who enjoy handloading.
• Does this ammo function reliably with aftermarket magazines?
In general, it does. Federal Training 9mm rounds are manufactured to industry-standard dimensions, so they cycle smoothly through most magazines. However, performance can vary with lower-quality aftermarket mags.
• Why is this labeled as "training ammo"?
It’s designed primarily for practice rather than self-defense. The Full Metal Jacket bullet and lower cost make it ideal for high-volume shooting sessions where consistent performance is paramount.
• Is it non-corrosive?
Yes. Federal uses modern, non-corrosive primers, which helps maintain the overall longevity of your firearm and reduces the risk of corrosion when proper cleaning routines are followed.
